The paper has been accepted for inclusion in the Future Technologies Conference (FTC) 2023 and I am presenting as a first author on 2-3 November 2023 in FTC San Francisco, United States.

Overview

The project is funded SEIRI (STEM Education Innovation & Research Institute) grant in partnership with Hope Training Academy (HTA). HTA is a non-profit training provider helping people who are doing blue collar jobs and are hoping to start their career in Information technology.

The Project

In this evaluative research, we compared the VR learning environment with the online and in-person laboratory environment. The research includes Usability testing & Surveys with 15 HTA students.
Students were randomly assigned to one of the three distinct cohorts -In-person, Online and VR to perform the similar task.

Key Responsibilities

As a solo UX Researcher, I planned & managed the research protocols, collaborated with Unity Developer to follow Ergonomics & Human Factors principles while making VR simulation.
Major part of the work includes research planning, survey making, participant recruitment & ops, conducting usability testings, analysing data and report findings.

Key Takeaways

Lookout for the biases - UX research is a continual fight against bias. It is important to eliminate the bias as much as possible and keep digging for the truth to understand beyond what the user knows.
